Voice4Change England has long held the view that charities and community-run non-profits have a much better chance of survival when they have control of capital assets than those that don’t. This was backed by various studies conducted in the mid-2000s following the economic recession that hit the UK.

It’s a Saturday afternoon in mid-July 2026 and I’m standing in the grounds of Fairfield House, in the great city of Bath. Ninety years ago, this became the home of His Imperial Majesty, Haile Selassie. Venerated today by those of the Rastafarian faith, and followers of Root Rock Reggae music.

On Saturday 4th July, The good and the great of the Midlands, East and West, were on hand to pay homage to Notts Community Groups, honoured through the local Social Justice Awards for 2026, hosted by community food activists Himmah. The occasion also marked Himmah’s 15 years of growth and development.
