Empowering Inclusive Leadership

On Tuesday 3rd June 2025, Voice4Change England delivered a dynamic leadership workshop hosted by Community Southwark, led by Director Kunle Olulode. Seventeen participants from around fifteen organisations joined to explore what effective, value-driven leadership looks like in today’s social sector.

Kunle guided attendees through the principles and practical strategies of leadership, drawing deeply from his own lived experiences as a campaigner, trade union leader, and advocate for racial justice. He emphasised that leadership is more than authority or titles—it’s about embodying values like empathy, accountability, inclusivity, and courage, especially when tackling inequality and driving social change. 

Participants engaged in activities and discussions around leadership styles, the importance of collaboration, and how cultural identity shapes impact. Kunle’s personal journey—from activism in South London to supporting families affected by injustice—highlighted the need for resilience, adaptability, and building partnerships across communities. 

The session also addressed how policies can be powerful tools for equity, urging organisations to move beyond performative measures and create genuinely inclusive environments for Black and Minoritised Ethnic groups. 

Feedback from the workshop was overwhelmingly positive, with participants appreciating the balance of practical advice, theoretical frameworks, and real-world storytelling. The event concluded with an invitation to join future Voice4Change England events and continue building a more inclusive and equitable sector.
